“Employment Programme for the Elderly and Middle-aged (EPEM)”, “Employees Retraining Board (ERB)” and “Po Leung Kuk” co-organise “One-stop Training and Employment Scheme” and Recruitment Day for Care Worker. 6 days per week, 48 hours in total, 8 hours per day (including half an hour meal breaks), with shifts and shift holiday. Monthly salary $19,550 and allowance (remain in the position and depends on work performance). The employment period is 1 year, subject to renewal based on performance. Applicants must be unemployed or non-engaged, aged 18 or above with educational attainment from Primary 6 or above, able to read and write Chinese and speak fair Cantonese, and must pass the interview. Applicants with first aid certificates will be given priority. Eligible trainees receive the training course "Basic Certificate Course for Caregivers" co-ordinated by ERB and organized by Caritas Hong Kong. After the pre-employment training course is completed (with an attendance rate of 80%), a retraining subsidy and a 6-month employment follow-up service will be provided. During the follow-up period, eligible trainees staying in employment and complete 2 designated training courses will be disbursed training allowance. Eligible trainees may also be arranged to join EPEM.
