The Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS) contains Chinese characters that are specific to the Hong Kong environment and are used by the public and the Government of the HKSAR in electronic communications. By using the HKSCS, the public and the Government of the HKSAR share a common set of characters to make electronic communications more effective and accurate. Overseas Internet users should note that the telephone numbers and facsimile lines of Hong Kong are preceded by the area code "852" and "$" in documents, unless specified, refers to Hong Kong dollars which is US$1=HK$7.80.
